My favorite photographic subjects are landscapes, wildlife, and
informal outdoor portraits of people encountered on my travels. I photograph
subjects that evoke a sense of connectedness or emotion in me, either through
their beauty, power or vulnerability, or their intriguing interplay of light and
shadow.
Photography goes hand-in-hand with my primary creative passion of
writing. Both media deal with the creation of images and self-expression
shared with an audience, either a reader or viewer. Over the years, I have
used photographs as inspiration for writing exercises in the classes I have
taught.
Throughout my life, I have fed my creative soul by making collages,
working with clay and fabric, drawing, and making photo cards for family
and friends. My inspirations have come from nature, extensive dream work
and dream journalling, and meditative visions. I strongly believe in the power
of art as a healing tool and a universal voice that can speak to all.
