These digital images are created using fractal software. The effects of colour, line and shape are achieved by randomly clicking and dragging the mouse.
The patterns of cloud, fallen leaves, or water stains are random and yet not random, the mathematics that nature employs in creating a leaf that is like and yet unlike all other leaves.
These images were a surprise and delight when they first appeared on the screen. They suggest light and shadow, something vaguely familiar yet mysterious and unfamiliar.
The first lines of the Tao Te Ching say:
"The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao;
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The Nameless is the origin of heaven and earth."
