I am a photographer focusing on floral images. I use a 35-mm camera, then have the negatives scanned onto a photo CD. I use PhotoShop to enhance the colors, contrast, and composition. I find it fascinating that with a computer, one can manipulate nature and create dreamlike, vivid flowers.
Within my photographs, I invent new species of flowers. I create impossible, fantastical floral images by manipulating the color palette. I am obsessed with color and the exquisiteness of nature. I am able to alter nature to my liking by using double exposure photographs, a macro lens, and a computer. Many of the flowers appear flowing and translucent due to the use of multiple exposures.
I believe all artwork should capture absolute beauty. Each of my photos is meant to capture the viewer and entice him/her to stare longer. Each photo is an attempt to achieve the "aesthetic ideal", meaning a perfect image superior in beauty.
My goal is for the viewer to believe my work fulfills their ideal spectacle and to desire to see my photographs repeatedly.
