2. What are the benefits of becoming a Millennium artist?Artists represented by the Millennium Art Gallery receive many direct and indirect benefits. Below we have outlined a few of these.
3. How do I apply for a Portfolio-Gallery?Enter the Members Section of the site and click on the Exhibition Information button. There you will find five (5) information pamphlets including our international Artist Representation Agreement. These pamphlets go over all aspects of initiating a Portfolio-Gallery and being represented by the Millennium Art Gallery.
4. What is the curatorial process/criteria?The Millennium curatorial staff, all of whom are exhibiting artists on this site, will review your work. Curatorial decisions are based on many factors. Aesthetic quality, uniqueness, visionary expression and marketability are a few. If we feel that your work is of exhibition quality then we will authorize a Portfolio-Gallery for your artworks. All images posted to an artist's Portfolio-Gallery are subject to curatorial selection. We want to ensure that the images being presented in the Millennium Portfolio-Gallery system are of international exhibition caliber.
5. Do I have to sign a contract?Yes. There is an Artists Representation Agreement which all artists represented by the Millennium Art Gallery must read and agree to before a Portfolio-Gallery will be initiated. The text of this agreement is available in the Members Section of the site.
6. Does Millennium sell my artworks for me?Yes. The Millennium site is designed to be a sales and marketing vehicle for the exhibiting artists. Millennium markets original artworks and manages copyright applications of original artworks.
7. Who manufactures the reproductions? The Millennium Art Gallery manufactures the print reproductions offered for sale on the Millennium site.
8. What % of Sales does the artist receive? On sales of original artworks the artist receives 70% of the sale price. On reproductions and copyright applications, the expense of manufacture, marketing, and administration are paid by the gallery. The artist receives 30% of the sale price.

Our basic package of services provides a feature rich Internet and e-commerce Artist Portfolio and web site that is at the cutting edge of Internet marketing and display. For an individual to build their own web pages with identical features would cost as much as $15,000 and come with monthly hosting and maintenance fees in the hundreds of dollars. Our Basic, Silver and Gold Portfolio packages offer you, the artist, the opportunity to place yourself and your artworks on the Internet with no headache and no large up front costs. In fact, all of our packages allow you to recoup the entire cost of the service and more through the sale of the fine art prints that you receive as part of the package. Portfolio-Gallery Service Packages (Rates Effective March 15/2001) Artists opening an Internet Portfolio at the Millennium Art Gallery have a choice of 3 levels of service: Basic Portfolio - $390 Canadian * 14 page Portfolio and navigation system. The first year fee covers all costs including administration, digital preparation, uploading of text and images and routine maintenance for a one year period. Additional images can be added to a Portfolio-Gallery for a per-image administration fee of $15 Canadian, which includes all digital preparation, etc, as above. An annual, per-image, administration fee of $5 Canadian is charged.
10. Why do you charge for a Portfolio-Gallery?Although we would love to offer all of our services for free, this is not practical or possible given the level of service we provide. Our costs for the initial construction, annual hosting and ongoing promotions we provide are substantial. It is our policy that represented artists must cover some of these initial and ongoing administration and marketing expenses. The Millennium site is the hub of a very active and activist international arts organization with Members in Canada and 27 other countries around the world. We are involved in multiple community projects and partnerships in community development and arts education. The artists represented by the gallery receive very active and ongoing marketing and promotions designed to get their artworks and message out to an international audience.
11. Can I still sell my artworks elsewhere?Yes. Artists represented by the Millennium Art Gallery sign a representation agreement, but it is not an exclusive agreement, so artists are free to pursue whatever other means they chose to exhibit and market their artworks. The only thing we ask is, that you notify us if you sell an original work that is displayed in your Millennium Portfolio-Gallery, so a "Sold" label can be applyed to the display page.
12. Do I have to become a member to exhibit on the site?Yes. However, membership is free. Only members can initiate a Portfolio-Gallery. We would like to make it clear that, for various reasons, many artists that are part of the Millennium Art Gallery do not exhibit on the Millennium site. This does not preclude playing an active and important role in our online community. We believe that artists have a major role to play in imagining a better world. And we believe that the Millennium vision of collective, creative action will help our global community to achieve it's potential.
13. Are my privacy and creative integrity protected as a member?Absolutely. We go to great lengths to ensure any information you provide us with is kept confidential. Your creativity is honored on this site. We support your creative efforts and do not in any way compromise your creative process.
14. Do I have to be an established artist to show my work on this site? No. We are interested in looking at portfolios from emerging, as well as established artists.
15. Will Millennium provide a link to my website? No. The Millennium Art Gallery has a strong committment to promoting the artworks displayed in our Portfolio-Gallery system. We feel that redirects to personal web sites would diminish our ability to provide represented artist/members with effective marketing and revenue flows. Many artists represented in the Millennium Portfolio-Gallery system also maintain personal web sites. This is not a conflict. Millennium representation is one of many ways an artist can use to market and promote their creations.
