The Creativity of a Child is the Language of the Soul

From Vol 2 Issue 2 - March, 2000

The Millennium Art Gallery is taking a leadership role in presenting the philosophy of Animatism to the world community. We believe the simple yet profound insights of this philosophy support and nourish human creativity on micro and macro levels.

One of the key understandings of Animatic philosophy is that "being creative" is a fundamental definition of what it is to be human. We believe that children’s artworks are a pure and passionate expression of this innate creativity. This insight opens a whole new universe of possibilities for education, community development and communications.

The Millennium Art Gallery views children’s artworks as intrinsically important and aesthetically significant and believes that the community that recognizes and supports children's creative efforts will reap enormous benefits. Our children are capable of great insight and profound reflections. We need to listen to these wisdoms with fresh ears and see children's pristine connection to the Cosmos with fresh eyes. Their creative expression needs to be recognized as a powerful resource and a blessing the entire community can receive benefit from.

Children's art has been largely overlooked as a source of powerful and profound expression in all creative fields. We believe a renaissance in art appreciation is underway and that the artworks of young children will come to be viewed in a much more serious and appreciative fashion. The purity of conception, boldness, beauty of execution, and richness of imagination children are capable of is rarely achieved by older trained artists.

We believe that a child's creative works need to be recognized in tangible ways. Encouragement by family and close friends is paramount to a child's creative confidence, emotional balance and well-being. The second and larger community of society can best provide its recognition and appreciation of children's creative endeavors through patronage and in ways that provide economic support to the children and families involved in creative endeavor. This is not to say that we believe that a child's creative energies should be viewed as a marketable commodity but that by attaching an economic value to a child's artistic creations the community at large is able to give its support and encouragement in a tangible and appropriate way.

The Millennium Art Gallery believes that when you purchase the artworks of children many wonderful things are accomplished. Your home is blessed with powerful, original and healing imagery. The young artists are encouraged to continue expressing themselves by seeing that the community values their efforts. The young artists receive income from sales of their artworks, which among other things, helps them to purchase more and better art supplies for future works. The families of these young artists see that the community does place value on their children’s creative energies and will be inclined to encourage their children to continue exploring and expressing their creativity. The community will prosper as it's youth become involved in community enhancing creative processes. And of course Millennium Art Gallery will receive some revenue, which will help us to continue to offer our facilities and energies to furthering creative expression around the world.
