Millennium - Virtual Art Openings: A Creative Revolution |

Because the Millennium - Virtual Art Opening concept is a new idea for everyone, I want to take a few seconds to outline how these events work and the vision behind them. The first thing to know is that participating in an online Art Opening is an interesting and enjoyable experience. There is nothing scary or stuffy about them. They are social events with members from all over the world arriving to chat with the Opening artists and each other. All are welcome and respected. When we set out a few years ago to create the Millennium Art Gallery, all design decisions were based on one key concept: to create a state-of-the-art interactive virtual gallery. A gallery that would encourage creative participation and inspire a new and global interchange between caring people. Out of this vision of global creative endeavour grew the Virtual Art Opening module - offering guests, the general public and patrons of the arts an online experience with all the character, culture and occasion of an actual Art Opening. A Millennium - Virtual Art Opening takes place in a multi-user, virtual gallery environment called the Virtual Art Opening module. In this virtual gallery, Opening artists' works are prominently on display and the artists are available for conversation by text or by voice. Gallery staff are on hand to greet arriving guests, mingle, answer questions, entertain, conduct site tours and introduce guests to artists and their art. Scheduled performance art, live music and improvised poetry presentations are also part of the Virtual Art Opening experience. The Millennium - Virtual Art Openings are a new and evolving process. The potential of utilizing these new technology processes for creating a global creative community are astounding. And you and I have the honor and the opportunity to be there at the beginning of this quantum leap in creative potential. Design and construction of the Millennium site has taken five programmers two years to complete. I hope you agree that we have succeeded in creating a thing of beauty. If it is at all possible for you to participate: ie, you have a computer capable of downloading the Virtual Art Opening program, then I would ask you to take an active roll in the process. Currently we are hosting two Openings for each exhibit. Four hours on Friday and four hours on Saturday. The reason for the double Opening is to allow guests, from various time zones around the globe, to attend. Here is a link to our Go Virtual - Virtual Art Opening module. Please check it out, read the FAQ and participate in your next Virtual Art Opening.
