On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Galerie du Millennium will have the pleasure of opening the year with an exceptional lecture by Daniel Girardin, art historian and former curator of the Musée de l’Elysée, devoted to the subtle and profound connections between painting, photography, and classical music.
From the Renaissance to the present day, these three artistic worlds have evolved in close dialogue: harmony of colors, construction of forms, visual rhythms, mathematical proportions…
Painting and music share a common language of balance, vibration, and emotion. Daniel Girardin will present around fifty works, from Leonardo da Vinci to Kandinsky, accompanied by live musical interpretations by Joséphine Duruz (piano), Rosa Welker (violin), and Daniel Girardin (viola).
A living dialogue between images and sounds, where each musical excerpt resonates with the projected artworks.
This conference will also be an opportunity to discover the work of Lausanne-based photographer Olivier Christinat, who will personally present several works in the light of this theme.
An independent photographer and artist, Olivier Christinat is the author of a distinctive body of work combining a documentary approach with poetic exploration. He was commissioned by Expo.02 for the pavilion Le Premier Regard, has taught at the CFP Arts in Geneva since 2003, and was selected in 2004 among the artists of Photo-Suisse, an international exhibition accompanied by a documentary film and a world tour.
Winner of the Rado Star Prize (2013) and the Alfred Latour Prize (2021), he is also the author of several artist books.
In 2025, he created a major installation for the 750th anniversary of Lausanne Cathedral and took part the same year in the Rencontres d’Arles.
The lecture will take place on January 27 at 6:30 PM at Galerie du Millennium.
The evening will conclude with a convivial cocktail, offering the opportunity to meet and exchange with the artist, the speaker, and fellow art enthusiasts in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Free admission, upon registration.
